Chocolate Chip Cookies

Spelt pasta with marinara sauce and parmesan cheese, and for dessert: chocolate chip cookies. That’s all she requested for her evening meal.
As my apartment filled with the smell of fresh chocolate chip cookies, it made me smile to know that my friend, my courageous friend, has just one session left of chemo. 5 down. 1 to go. Kicking ass each and every step of the way.
Most people will never know of the struggles of going through chemotherapy, or cancer for that matter. But, what doesn’t kill us only makes us that much stronger, that much more courageous and that much more appreciative of the simple things in life like chocolate chip cookies. Every person loves chocolate chip cookies, no matter the age, gender or ethnicity. They are a simple comfort food and even better when they are made fresh in the oven.
Ro, I hope you enjoy the sweet morsels and remind yourself just how simple, blessed and full of zest you are. The journey is not over, but there will be tons of chocolate chip cookies along the path. And, I will be glad to bake a fresh batch for you with every mile you cross.
