Well, I haven't had a chance to email/call/text all of you but got some GREAT news. I accepted the position of Assistant Attorney General, Child Support Enforcement division, for Broward County. Everything happens for a reason and truly, it was all about good timing. I am very lucky as this will be a positive change for me. I am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel in working toward my goal that 2013 will be a calm year where I can finally focus on my future and life as a newlywed!
I have been cleared by Dr. Rosenbaum to start working on September 10, 2012, so that is my new start date. I've also been cleared to drive on Labor Day weekend so I still have 2 full weeks to get acclimated and ease back into the real world. Cabin fever is sinking in quick but fortunately, since I'm now home, I can at least work on straightening up some of my paperwork and work on planning for the weddings!
I'm very excited!
These past few weeks have been very hard. I am a very independent person and it's been so hard to have to ask for help because I can't do much on my own. Jason and my family have been so good to me and it's been so hard to not feel like a burden each time I asked for something else because I couldn't reach, couldn't get up, or was in too much pain. I stopped taking Vicodin this week but am still managing my pain by taking Tylenol every few hours.
Since I had my 15 hour surgery (still in shock that it was that long!) basically from my neck to my pelvic bone and everywhere in between, I don't have full mobility of my arms and I cannot use my stomach muscles whatsoever. Think about that. I guarantee that most of you don't realize just how much you use your stomach muscles every day. As a very small example, pay close attention the next time you get up from a chair or when you get up from bed. These 2 small gestures are so difficult for me but I am a fighter and I have been recovering at an extremely quick pace because I am young and healthy. The doctors are impressed with how quickly my incisions are healing as well.
I have incisions across each breast, which have both been reconstructed and look fabulous and an incision from hip to hip, basically giving me a happy face look on my upper body. I have to wear a corset for a few more weeks which helps ease the swelling from my surgery.
Thank you again for all of your help and support. I couldn't have done it without you!
Congrats on the new job!!! Glad you got out of there too!!
