A special thank you

As some of you know, I have been making Sunday brunch at Aroma (11am) with my girlfriends a regular recurrence. It is something I look forward to each and every week and it's something I know I can count on when everything else around me lacks any type of certainty. Spending time with my girls and catching up on all the fun gossip is the best medicine there is! If the going gets rough during my journey and I can't physically make it to Aroma, I know I can count on these same girls to move the party, so to speak, to my house and carry on the tradition.

This Sunday was particularly a special one. My best friend, Laura, had asked a mutual friend, Wendi, to come as our first "guest speaker." Wendi has been inspirational to Laura and myself in so many ways over the past few months as she continues to post her success in overcoming some adversity on Facebook. She always keeps a positive attitude and always has the best quotes! Laura and I immediately thought of her when we were thinking of having a "guest speaker" come to the brunches as my inspiration. For the occasion, Laura made pink breast ribbon chocolate lollipops for all of the guests.

Wendi was so amazing. She wrote a speech and not one of us had a dry eye when it was all over. It was such an inspirational speech. (Wendi, if you're reading this and with your permission, I'd like to share it on the blog!)

THESE are the times that get me through this. So, thank you Nicole, Lisa, Elana, Laura, and Wendi (and a special guest appearance from Jason) for making the time to come meet me at my favorite place and for taking the time to have the pleasure of listening to such an inspirational speech. A special thank you to Wendi who took the time to write such a phenomenal speech!

As for everyone else who is reading this, you are all instrumental in my success in kicking this disease's a$$. Each one of you offer support in your own way and deserve a special recognition. Those who know me well know how much I've been struggling in not returning every phone call, nor being able to individually thank everyone. I know you all understand and please know that I am grateful to each and every one of you for your support and love. The road is only going to get bumpier before it gets smoother, and it means the world to me knowing I have help to get me through.

Thank you and toda raba.
